First Lady Johnson

 

 
Losing her parents at an early age, First Lady Erika Hall Johnson is evidence that, “It takes a village to raise a child.”  Raised by a loving Aunt and devoted Grandparents, First Lady Johnson was blessed with a caring and devoted community of family and friends who surrounded her with love and encouragement to be her best.  Her community was further expanded as she matriculated through and graduated from the McDonogh Schoolin Owings Mills, Marylandand the Universityof Marylandat College Park.  At UMCP, she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and joined an international community of women committed to scholarship, service and sisterhood.  A natural teacher and leader, First Lady Johnson used her studies of English Literature and Afro-American Studies along with her vast curiosity and exploration of The Arts to create and implement The Hall Project: A Social and Cultural Enrichment Program for Girls.  She understands the impact that a strong community can have on the success of a child and used her professional endeavors toward educating and motivating youth.  She worked with numerous after-school programs and taught Kindergarten through 12th grade in Baltimore, MD, Atlanta, GA, and Oklahoma City, OK. 
 
While she is confident that the children in her care have been given hope and encouragement through their time together, her life’s work truly began after graduation in June 2000 when she married her husband, Pastor Darron M. Johnson.  Soon after their wedding, the couple moved from Baltimore, MDto Atlanta, GA  and the Lord blessed them with twin boys, Michael Bailey and Gabriel Isom.  They did not stay in Atlantalong before the Lord called them to work and study in Oklahoma City, OK.  Once there, the Lord said their family was not complete without a pretty princess and Erin Nile was delivered in 2005.  In 2008, Pastor Johnson was called to lead the Emmanuel Fellowship Baptist Churchin Dallas, TX, so they now call Grand Prairie, TXhome.
 
The word of God is very clear in the book of Luke, “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more."  First Lady Johnson recognizes how richly the Lord has blessed her and in turn accepts the challenge of a life surrendered as His disciple.  Now after three states and three kids, First Lady Johnson is still working to create positive, stable, transforming communities: in her home as a full time wife and mother; in her church as an administrator, teacher and counselor;  and in her nation as a volunteer, organizer and educator.  She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, going to the gym and being creative.  But most of all she enjoys worshipping the Lord, studying His Word and ministering in the lives of His children.
